Alistair Wallace Lamont was born by the name of Nicholas Carmello Wallace and bred in Boston, Massachusetts in 1900 at the turn of the century. His family on his father's side emmigrated from Scotland when his great grandparents left their home soil for greener pastures. His family have been American natives ever since, and his father, Douglas, married Italian beauty faring from New York, Carmella Lorenzi. But Alistair was always born with wanderlust and a sheer desire to see as much of the world as he could. Born with natural musical talent passed down to him from generations, it wasn't long before his gift was much sought after. He made money from a very young age performing for wealthy families and although he love to play, it also brought a thirst for more and more money.
Alistair hit his twenties right when America was in the thick of the Roaring Twenties, drenched in Prohibition, crime, and gangsters. With connections from his maternal family, he began to sing and perform in Speakeasy clubs across New York and Boston, raking in the money from those dripping in cash... even if it was dirty money, Alistair didn't care. It wasn't long before he was known all across America, and it was when he passed his 25th birthday, he discovered that his own mother wasn't just an Italian beauty, but a Mafia princess in her own right. Having been so caught up in his music and trying to make his own fortunes, Alistair had been oblivious to his mother's connections and his eyes were soon well-opened when one of the hard-hitting mob bosses of the seedy New York underworld wanted to use Alistair's talent as a means to conceal Mafia business. It was probably a bad idea from the start, because once you were in, you never made it out, but it was like dangling a carrot in front of a horse and Alistair was soon a elevated to a gangster in his own right.
But he didn't even hit 30 years old when he was approached one night backstage after a performance by the daughter of a rival Mob Boss. She professed her love for Alistair, telling him he had to marry her because her father was trying to marry her off to a guy twice her age. Alistair didn't know her from a bar of soap, and tried to resist her advances... which proved to be his biggest mistake. He found himself with her fangs speared deeply into his throat and a week later, he re-awakened undead and Kindred. It was a shock to the system, not only because Alistair didn't believe in anything like vampires or supernatural existence, but because he had been taken by a rival mob. No matter what he did, he was tainted and nothing could change that. He couldn't go back to his life. So, his death stood and his family mourned whilst Alistair changed his name, plucking it from his Scottish ancestors, and hid out for a few years. He fled to Las Vegas and living a life in the darkness, though still filled with music. Music was in his blood, and what made him a true Toreador.
Of course, being immortal, he never aged and in the year 2000, exactly one hundred years after his birth, he signed a recording deal and soon hit the big time as one of the world's biggest rock acts. He knew as soon as he started to get into this new world, he was made for it. He thrived on every facet of it and he finally felt like he belonged after wandering the world aimlessly for decades. He hooked up with many Kindred along the way, and found himself based back in New York with his long-term friend he met in his Mafia days, Eric Knight, who had been Embraced by his brother after facing his own murder in the face. When Eric's brother, Benjamin one of the finest Kindred Alistair had ever met, was elevated to Prince by unanimous overhaul, with Eric appointed Primogen for Ventrue, Alistair began yearning for a more permanent return to the City. New York was always a modern city, but for the first time in centuries, it found it self with a mostly young Kindred Council governing the City. Of course, Alistair still had to travel and would depart the city on the regular to tour but it was where he felt like he belonged.
It was on a tour of the United Kingdom where Alistair's world once again came crashing down. When auditioning back-up singers for his European leg of the tour, Alistair met unbelievably beautiful and talented Scottish musician and singer, Airlie MacKenzie... and fell in love with her. It was the first time Alistair had ever fallen in love and suddenly he couldn't imagine his life without her. But it all went horribly wrong when Alistair, engulfed by his uncontrollable passion and desire for her, lost control one night and accidentally Embraced her. He was riddled with guilt, especially when Airlie didn't cope with her transition. She was so young, and he stole everything from her when he wanted to give her the world. He vowed to protect her and teach her everything, being the most loving and attentive Sires, but it didn't work out. His guilt continued to eat him alive and Airlie began to blame him for taking her life in her prime. They still loved each other, but had to separate before they destroyed each other. Alistair went back to New York and Airlie was passed into the hands of her human and mortal best friend, Hunter and Supernatural expert with Kindred knowledge, Rory Buchanan, who would introduce Airlie to the Kindred Prince of Scotland, Ealasaid Loudain to whom he was a Vessel.
Alistair is now back in New York, having thrown himself into his career and staying as far away from Airlie as he could manage, and performing whenever he can. But his heart will forever hold an empty place at the loss of Airlie and he swears he will never fall in love with another person. He's now a typical rockstar, rough around the edges, wild and with a wicked sense of humour. He doesn't take shit and won't put up with you if he doesn't like you. His experience with Airlie definitely hardened him that little more, but he has a big heart for those he loves and will forever be a loyal friend and Kindred.
THE MASQUERADE & ITS CLANS
THE MASQUERADE & KINDRED
Within a vampire bloodline known as The Kindred, seven vampire clans are collectively joined, forming the largest sect of vampires called the Camarilla, and survive through the Masquerade, disguising themselves as humans. Camarilla policy is that vampires should try to fit in with and hide from the rest of humanity, as to easily feed on them. For this reason, they created a web of lies and misinformation, called the Masquerade, to make the public believe that supernatural beings like vampires could not possibly exist. The Camarilla also believes that the only way the vampire species can survive in these modern nights is if it unite. Any breach of the Masquerade by any vampire risks exposing the entire race. Both viewpoints are fundamentally opposed by the Sabbat, an opposing sect to the Camarilla. The Camarilla also enforces the Eldest as ruling class over the younger vampires. The seven clans of the Camarilla are Ventrue, Brujah, Malkavian, Toreador, Gangrel, Tremere and Nosferatu. When a human is turned by a Kindred vampire, it is known as the Embrace, the vampire siring the human to embrace them into their own bloodline.
Each city has a ruler, a "Prince" who enforces the laws of The Masquerade that govern them to protect their anonymity. A clan is a group of vampires "related" by blood; i.e. the vampiric equivalent of an extended family or lineage. A clan is usually a large group, acknowledged widely in the vampiric society. Each clan nurture their own characteristics and traits, and each clan has its strengths and weaknesses. Often the clans do not always get along with certain clans such as the Brujah and the Ventrue actually hating one another. Each clan within a given area has a representative, a Primogen, who is usually the eldest and most powerful member of the clan, who attends the leader or prince's advisory council. This status also grants the character social advantages and greater power than being a normal member of their clan.

The Toreador are some of the most beautiful and glamorous of the Kindred. Famous (and infamous) as a clan of artists and innovators they are one of the bastions of the Camarilla, as their very survival depends on the façades of civility and grace on which the sect prides itself. In the middle age, the Toreador were a member of the High Clans, and their numbers were made up of the same types that are common in the modern nights - minstrels, painters, poets and actors. The Toreador revelled in the Victorian age. The Industrial Revolution led to a phenomenon that only the rich had been previously afforded - leisure time. A heyday of theatre, music and art began in cultural nexuses like New York, London and Paris and spread throughout the globe. While the influence of the Church in people's lives (and consequently, the influence Toreador held over the church) waned, those Kindred that latched themselves onto businessmen prospered. Possibly the one thing most Toreador love with the exception of beauty is money, and it was now accessible from places other than the landed gentry of the time. While the Clan has had peaks and troughs, this was a time that cemented them as a true power in the Camarilla.
It is said that while the Ventrue are the mind of the Camarilla, the Toreador are its soul. The Toreador portray themselves as the vampires closest to the living breathing pulse of the humans around them (though this honour might be shared with the Brujah). They claim that this is what keeps them so vital and modern. Indeed, Clan members are often the first ones to be aware of what mortals are wearing, eating, buying and sleeping with. The weakness of the Toreador Clan is that the members of this clan are as much prisoners of their artistic vision and sensitivity as they are its beneficiaries. They are often overcome by the beauty they see around them, and become immobilized with fascination. Such things as paintings, neon signs, or even sunrises can captivate them. It requires a successful Willpower roll to break the fascination quickly; otherwise, the Toreador will stand, awed and helpless, for minutes or even hours. This trait explains why Toreador so often fall in love with mortals.
